The School Funding Referendum’s impact on our students & teachers.
Fund salaries for teachers & support staff.
HEB ISD students are blessed with some of the best and most dedicated teachers and support staff in the state. If approved by voters, the School Funding Referendum will allow for competitive salaries that will help the district recruit and retain the quality educators needed to grow our academic, fine arts, college preparation, and CTE programs.
Maintain classroom safety programs in every school.
When House Bill 3 passed in 2023, which required every campus to have an armed security guard, the Legislature only partially funded this mandate, leaving it to local taxpayers to cover the remaining costs. The School Funding Referendum will provide the revenue needed to help maintain current safety programs, implement additional security measures, and continue providing armed officers for every campus.
Continue with small class sizes at all grade levels.
Competition for classroom instructors is at an all-time high in Texas, and losing teachers to higher-paying districts would result in fewer educators and larger and potentially crowded class sizes. By providing funds to increase pay and benefits, we can retain our quality teachers and continue offering small class sizes that allow for more personal attention for each student.
Grow college preparation & career training.
In response to the ever-increasing demand from our students, HEB ISD has expanded its college preparation, job skills training, and certification programs in high-demand career fields. The School Funding Referendum will help maintain the career pathways and job training programs we offer, while also strengthening our partnerships with the Tarrant County College District.
Expand in-demand student programs.
The School Funding Referendum was designed to provide the revenue needed to continue and expand our special education programs, academic courses, dual credit classes, athletics, fine arts programs, extracurricular curriculum, and leadership opportunities our students need to succeed in college, career, and adulthood.
